The 2nd Symposium on Hybrid Testing Method for Engineering Structures

    Experimental research is essential for validating research findings as well as exploring the unknown. However, traditional experimental methods cannot meet the requirements for testing the modern civil engineering structures such as ultra-high skyscraper, mega infrastructures and multi-materials applications. Hybrid simulation (HS) offers an cost-effective way to test large-scale structures and has been increasingly recognized as a powerful experimental method in the field of civil engineering.

    The purpose of this symposium is to push forward the development and application of hybrid simulation. This symposium is hosted by the International Society of Lifeline and Infrastructure Earthquake Engineering, the Innovative research group on Earthquake Resistance and Mitigation of Significant Engineering Structures, Committee of Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction for Infrastructure Engineering, Seismological Society of China, and Committee of Structural Vibration Control and Health Monitoring, Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering. The first symposium was held at Beijing University of Technology in 2018. 

    The symposium of this year will take place at Wuhan University of Technology on August 26-27, 2019. We are very much looking forward to having the pleasure of welcoming you all to Wuhan. During the symposium, we will discuss the theory, the application as well as the future of hybrid simulation. 

    The conference will cover a wide variety of subjects on hybrid simulation (HS) including the following topics:

1. Time integration algorithms in HS

2. Stability analysis methods in HS

3. Advanced control method in HS

4. Boundary conditions in HS

5. Hybrid simulation with model updating

6. System development for HS

7. Multi-Hazard hybrid simulation method

8. Applications of HS

    During this symposium, there will be a students’ competition with the subject ‘Virtual hybrid simulation of a frame-type structure’.
